Launching a capital campaign to
build a new shelter

Timy Sullivan

Timy Sullivan spent 13 years in development and marketing at an independent girls' school before opening Winghouse Communications in 1993. At Winghouse, she provides area nonprofit organizations with writing, event planning, and consulting services in all areas of fund- and friend-raising.

A longtime volunteer in animal welfare, Timy temporarily closed her business in 1999 to serve as executive director of Geauga Humane Society. In addition to the usual duties, she was charged with the responsibility of raising the funds and supervising the construction of a long-needed new shelter.

Rescue Village, a 10,000-square-foot, $2 million, state-of-the-art shelter and center for humane education, opened, with no debt, in December of 2001.

The following year, Timy left GHS and re-opened Winghouse. She has been involved in Cleveland Botanical Garden's recently completed $50 million capital campaign.

Timy now volunteers at Rescue Village and serves on the board of Humane Ohio, an organization dedicated to ending the killing of adoptable animals in shelters throughout the state.

A part-time reporter and columnist for over 25 years, Timy has written extensively about animals and animal welfare issues. She lives in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with her husband, Ed, and their dogs Kojak, Benny, and George.
