Pet Transport
Moving pets from one region to
another to find homes for them
is becoming more common

Susan Hogarth

Susan Hogarth is 38 and has lived with dogs and cats her entire life. While she was serving time as a very frustrated graduate student, she became interested in rescue work through a social e-mail list for beagle owners. Susan couldn't do any fostering at the time, so she started helping with transport through the wonderful organization CUR (Canine Underground Railroad).

While working with CUR, she learned how a tight and safe transport is run. After Susan gave up on graduate school, she had more time and money, and decided to burn them both by getting into rescue proper. She founded Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina and served as the president for four years.

These days, Susan concentrates on spending time with her own dogs and developing her career, while keeping a (light) hand in rescue. Susan adds, "I have a few rescue projects simmering in my mind -- one of which involves a software solution for setting up and tracking rescue transport runs. If you're a programmer, we need to talk!"
