Mary Martin
Mary Martin is the director of medical services for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control, the largest pet adoption agency in the country.
Mary has developed a comprehensive medical program that includes spay/neuter services for the twenty two thousand animals adopted each year as well as providing that service for the pets of needy families in the county.
Mary is also responsible for the creation of the STAR program, a collaboration with community veterinarians and Animal Care and Control to help injured and ill animals that otherwise would be euthanized. Because of the success of this program the shelter has not needed to euthanize any friendly injured animals in over a year.
In addition Mary and her team have implemented cutting edge medical protocols to treat diseases considered untreatable.
Mary brings over 20 years of veterinary medical experience to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. With an overwhelming desire to see the end of pet euthanasia due to over-population and lack of veterinary care, Mary works tirelessly with her team to care for the over 60 thousand animals who find their way to the shelters.
