Jill Borkowski

Jill Borkowski is experienced in every aspect of special events and fundraising, including event planning, marketing, public relations and sponsorship solicitation. As the former special events and marketing director at the Toledo Area Humane Society (TAHS) in Toledo, Ohio, Jill has planned major fundraising events like the Walk and 5k Run for the Animals ($80,000+), the FurBall ($65,000+) and pet photos with Santa and the Grinch ($8,700). She also oversaw the donation canister project, which brings in over $12,000 annually and grew by $4,600 in its first year under her direction.

In just over two years with TAHS, Jill added many new fundraisers that now take place on an annual basis, including the "Great American Mutt Show, Toledo," a motorcycle raffle with Signature Harley Davidson/Buell, a Howl-O-Ween party, the WIOT Cleveland Browns Fan Night, and more. These fundraisers, and several other small events throughout the year, bring in almost $40,000 annually (up from $8,000 the year prior to Jill taking over).

Before accepting a staff position, Jill volunteered at TAHS and sat on the Walk and 5k Run for the Animals Committee. As a volunteer, she also spearheaded a relationship with the Toledo Mud Hens minor league baseball team and planned the first annual "Dog Days of Summer" event, where people could take their dogs to a ballgame.

Prior to joining the TAHS team, Jill was an account executive with Roman/Peshoff, Inc., a marketing and public relations firm. Jill handled accounts such as Borders Books & Music Stores, National Tree Trust (NTT), Bowling Green State University and Ball Park Franks' "Great American Clean-Up Program," which identified and renovated rundown youth baseball fields in inner cities nationwide. While at R/P, Jill's focus was on public relations, earning national recognition for her clients in such publications as Woman's Day and House Beautiful and television coverage on ESPN.

Jill is a graduate of the University of Toledo with a degree in communication.
