Denise Deisler
Denise Deisler is a vital member of the Richmond SPCA's executive management team. Appointed COO in May 2002, Ms. Deisler oversees a number of operational activities, including shelter management, financial operations, human resources, public relations and special events.
She joined the Richmond SPCA in 1998 as Community Relations Director and has progressed through a number of increasingly responsible positions with the organization. During her tenure with the Richmond SPCA, Ms. Deisler has served as a change agent for SPCA staff, the community and the regional news media. She developed and implemented the communications plan for the highly successful Campaign for a Compassionate Solution, which raised more than $14.2 million. She has designed and initiated comprehensive training programs for staff members, developed policies for no-kill operations, garnered public support for the no-kill commitment, and planned several community-wide fundraising and public relations events that have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and generated a tremendous amount of goodwill in the Richmond region.
Prior positions include two years as marketing manager with United Way Services and 11 years serving her country as a U.S. Air Force morale and recreation officer.
A native of Chicago, Ms. Deisler was raised on animal welfare causes and issues - her mother being a veterinary facility administrator. She is a member of the Richmond Public Relations Association Board of Directors, a member of the Public Relations Society of America, and a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Ms. Deisler is married and has three sons.
