Chris Whyle

Chris Whyle, president of Homeless Cat Management Team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been active in HCMT since shortly after the group's inception. She researched existing TNR programs in 1998 and adapted these methods to HCMT's donated facility and resources. She recruited the first wave of volunteers, developed and produced literature to recruit volunteer veterinarians, designed the paperwork and forms necessary for safe and efficient clinic operations, scheduled cats, scheduled volunteers, and coordinated the organization's free spay/neuter clinics. She has since passed many of these duties on to other capable volunteers (thank goodness!), but continues to oversee clinic operations and participate in strategic planning, fundraising and other board functions.

Chris also co-founded FosterCat, Inc., a nonprofit organization that recruits foster homes and provides foster care and adoption services for surplus shelter cats and pet cats whose people need assistance with immediate placement.

Chris has provided thousands of hours of volunteer service to Pittsburgh area animal shelters since 1990, from dog-walking to cat behavior counseling, and just about everything in between. She also travels around southwestern Pennsylvania promoting trap/neuter/return and teaching individuals, animal welfare agencies, and municipal authorities how to implement spay/neuter strategies in their jurisdictions.

Chris and her husband, Jeffery, are owned by a houseful of wonderful kitties - all strays and rescues, of course. She supports these fuzzballs through her day job as a graphic designer.
