Anita Kelso Edson

Anita Kelso Edson has worked in journalism and media relations for 18 years. As director of media relations for the SPCA of Texas, she is responsible for all local and national media coverage as well as daily updating of the SPCA website with adoptable animals.

Anita began her career in St. Louis as a photographer for a chain of suburban newspapers and was an editor at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. She later served as promotion manager for a producer/distributor of television programs and broadened her experience in the entertainment industry at a Los Angeles PR agency, where she secured global trade and consumer press for the company's clients.

In 1992 Anita moved to Dallas, where she served as director of publicity for Taylor Publishing Company and oversaw media plans for 35 nonfiction book titles a year. She was an SPCA volunteer before joining the media relations team in 2000.

Born and raised in Arlington, Texas, Anita graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in journalism. She and her adopted Dalmatian, Scooter, an animal-assisted-activity/therapy dog, are part of the Delta Society's Pet Partners team.
