Hearts and Hands
June 21, 2003
Every year, thousands of people travel to Best Friends to visit the nation's largest animal sanctuary and lend a hand caring for the animals.
Some are accidental tourists, happening upon the place only to discover they feel at home here. Others plan a trip months in advance. Still others come back year after year to spend time visiting animals with whom they share a special bond.
For the people who visit each year, helping the animals is a way to give something back.
Our special feature this week honors some of the people who've made Best Friends so unique - the volunteers.
