Nathania Gartman

July 2nd, 1948 - July 4th, 2003

At a memorial service at the sanctuary on July 11, 2003, we said a sad farewell to Nathania Gartman, beloved director of our education programs and one of the founders of Best Friends. Many thanks to all of you for your kind words and thoughts.

In a tribute to Nathania, her colleague Faith Maloney writes:

"Nathania loved working with children of all ages, but when pushed to name a favorite age, she admitted to having a special place in her heart for teenagers. She empathized with the struggles that they face growing up in today's world, and she knew that if they could connect with animals and nature, it would somehow make the passage easier for them."
