Susan Kesling, Clinic Manager

Susan Kesling has worked at Best Friends since March 2006. She started out as a dog caregiver for the residents of The Lodges, which house dogs who do better living either in pairs or alone rather than in groups. After a few months, she saw that there was an opening in puppies and thought it would be a fun and challenging change of pace. She worked with puppies until February of 2007 and then moved into the clinic as the veterinary technical supervisor. In May of 2007 she moved into the clinic manager position. Her goal is to make the clinic a place where animal care is second to none.

Susan has a B.S. in outdoor recreation and a teaching degree in science. She has worked as a teacher on and off for the last 20 years. Before coming to Best Friends, she worked as a veterinary assistant and practice manager for a clinic in Washington State for three years. Susan has experience working in shelter situations and loves seeing the animals get adopted into their forever homes.

She shares her home with her husband and three teenage children. They have three dogs and seven cats, including two that are neurological and can't walk. Even though they have special needs, the cats get along just fine and don't know they have any sort of handicap. Susan also takes on fosters when the need arises.
