Ross Harthill, Maintenance Quality and Customer Satisfaction Manager

A native of Scotland, Ross first visited Best Friends in 1999 while on vacation. On that visit, he spent some time at Old Friends, the TLC Cat Club and Angels Rest. When he returned to Scotland, he raved about Best Friends to his friends and family.

Ross moved to the U.S. in 2002 and lived in Ohio until the summer of 2004. During that time, he sold Suzuki motorcycles and ATVs for a living, but then decided to return to his trade as an ornamental blacksmith. With a job lined up in California, he packed his van with all his worldly possessions and headed off into the sunset. He had a number of places he wanted to visit on the way to California, including Best Friends

Upon arriving at Best Friends, he experienced the same feelings he'd had all those years ago and decided to stay awhile. He proudly accepted a position as caregiver at Old Friends in Dogtown Heights. In December 2004, he was promoted to team leader for personnel in Dogtown, overseeing the recruitment and selection of staff in that area, along with aesthetics and maintenance. In July of 2006, he moved to the Maintenance Department, where he is responsible for maintenance quality and customer satisfaction.

A biking enthusiast, Ross also manages the Bikers for Best Friends Community on the Best Friends Network website. In conjunction with Zion Harley-Davidson, he organized the first Best Friends poker run and adoption event, held on September 23, 2006. One hundred bikers had fun riding motorcycles to benefit the animals. The plan for 2007 is to take this event to a national level.
