Jen Reid, Horse Haven Manager

Jen was introduced to Best Friends in 1996 when she and her husband adopted a dog named Sunbear while visiting the area.  They fell in love with southern Utah and decided it was where they needed to be.  Since Jen had always loved animals, it seemed only natural for her to come to Best Friends as well.

In 1997 she started work as a caregiver and vet tech in Dogtown.  In 1999 she moved to Horse Haven and has been there ever since.  She became co-manager of Horse Haven in 2006, and she now oversees the care of all the horses, mules, potbellied pigs, sheep, goats, and donkeys.  While she finds all aspects of horse and farm animal care fascinating, she is especially passionate about feet.  (Yes, she realizes that's a bit strange!)  She went to Mission Farrier School in 2003 and is now a professional Natural Balance farrier (horse podiatrist).

Jen lives in Kanab with her husband and their three dogs and five horses.
