Judah Battista, Clinic and Cats Manager
Judah supervises the Best Friends Clinic. He works closely with the two Best Friends veterinarians and the rest of the medical team who provide care to the sanctuary's animal residents - on any given day, about 1,500 cats, dogs, rabbits, horses and other companion animals. The clinic is fully outfitted to provide comprehensive medical care, including x-rays, blood work, state-of-the-art dental care, and ultrasound. In addition, the clinic provides spay/neuter for the local community and runs a trap/neuter/return (TNR) program for area feral cats.
Besides overseeing the clinic, Judah is co-manager of Cats, where approximately 600 cats live in environments suited to their special needs. He was an active consultant on the design of WildCats Village, Kitty Motel and Morgaine's Place, which house feral cats, special needs cats, and adoptable cats and kittens, respectively. The facilities at Cats are widely recognized as the model for housing cat populations in a sanctuary or shelter setting.
Judah first began volunteering for Best Friends in 1984 while on summer vacations. He began working full-time at the sanctuary in 1988 and has been a member of the clinic and the Cats teams ever since.
Judah lives with three dogs and one cat.
