Debby Widolf, Bunny House Manager

Debby Widolf is the manager of the Bunny House at Best Friends Animal Society. She oversees the care of around 110 rabbits, manages six staff members, coordinates adoptions, collaborates with rabbit rescue groups, and helps to educate the public about the care and behavior of rabbits. On any given day, her activities can include giving medication to rabbits, cleaning bunny houses, answering e-mails, and arranging housing for incoming rabbits.

Debby offered her expertise during the early stages of the Great Bunny Rescue of 2006, which involved rescuing, caring for and eventually adopting out 1,600 rabbits living in a backyard in Reno, Nevada.

Debby says working at Best Friends is a gift that she gave herself after a long career as an occupational therapist. She volunteered with the House Rabbit Society (HRS) as an educator and foster care provider, and also ran Four Corners Bunnies, a satellite of the Colorado House Rabbit Society before coming to work for Best Friends.

Her passions in life are rabbits, dancing and hiking.
